post on novel question

One of the images of the book that lingers in my mind is the hospital part of the book. I remember this part because of how the doctors and surgeons there think as the troops as lab rats that they can experiment with. I think that this shows more of the humanity of Paul his friend and the other people in the room when one gets sent to the dieing room. People die and their beds are replaced by strangers in this part of the book. This part is one of the saddest parts of the book but I think it is also one of the most interesting parts.

One of the things that came up in my discussion was about the part of the book when Paul decides not to kill a French man because he knows that he has a family and a life. We discussed this because this shows how Paul’s humanity has not quite disappeared. One of the other key points in our discussion was about the hospital part of the book and how people just disappeared and were replaced by strangers. This discussion was very good and brought up concepts I did not think about.
