Ending journel on All quiet on the western front

One of the quotes I thought was interesting was “Iam very quiet. Let the months and years come, they can take nothing from me, they can take nothing more”. This quote comes from the ending of the book and is very import because it shows that Paul believes he has nothing left to live for. All his friends are dead and he believes his family to not understand him or the horrors of war. I think this is interesting because Iam confused that Paul doesn’t think about his sister at all near the end. I thought that he had a reason to live and that reason was to raise his sister because his Mom is dieing and his father’s off socializing and doesn’t have his priorities straight.
